Laura Edmunds: mouth

mouth explores breath, human voice and the mouth as a portal between one place and another. Laura Edmunds has worked with members of the Threshold Choir of West Wales, a choir who specialise in singing to those at the threshold of dying and in need of comfort, to create a soundscape exploring these themes. A soundscape made up of the textures, volumes and densities of voice explores the mouth as the liminal space between the outside and the inside, between “me” and “out there”. mouth is a lamenting reverie: ritualistic and with spiritual undertones, but calling to something obscure. Balancing precariously between being felt but not held - a sense of unity through voice, moving beyond oneself, of vocal osmosis. mouth has been supported using funding from the Arts Council of Wales.
