Met Opera: Manon (Massenet)

Laurent Pelly’s enchanting production, starring exhilarating soprano Lisette Oropesa in the effervescent title role, explores the devastating consequences when excess and passion collide.

Maurizio Benini conducts Massenet’s sensual score with tenor Michael Fabiano as the besotted Chevalier des Grieux, whose desperate love for Manon proves to be the undoing of these unfortunate lovers.

Professional musician, teacher and opera enthusiast Idris Rees will be bringing back pre- show talks around the new Opera seasons and has this to say about what's in store...

"Manon is a love story but a very tragic love story as Manon abandons her sweetheart for a life of luxury with a very rich but older man, her life in the fast lane eventually leads to her early death from consumption."

Pre- show talk in the art gallery space at 5:25pm.
