Stick in the Wheel
Four times BBC Folk Award nominees, Stick In The Wheel, are a five-piece folk band from East London. Known for singer Nicola Kearey’s fierce, working-class delivery, and their culturally and politically switched on music, they skilfully tell stories through song that reconnect modern audiences to the past, drawing unexpected parallels between then and now. Their new album, Follow Me True, examines rituals and cycles, the past repeating itself and our inherent power to change ourselves and the world around us. Expanding on the radical sound of their debut, they continue to question the notion of what folk music is, and what it means in 2018.
Jim Ghedi and Toby Hay will be supporting Stick in the Wheel at Theatr Mwldan
Jim Ghedi and Toby Hay both make music so deeply entrenched in a sense of place - such as their homes in Rhayader and Moss Valley - that the landscapes of those environments runs through their records like gushing rivers or rolling hill tops.
