Gholam (15)

Mitra Tabrizian | 2017 | UK | Iran | 95’

Set amid London’s Iranian community during the Arab spring of 2011, Gholam (Shahab Hosseini, The Salesman) is a melancholy figure caught between old loyalties and present commitments.  Minicab driver by night, car mechanic by day, he resists attempts to return him to Tehran (where his Mother waits, lamenting for him) on an unspecified mission but seems stirred by the plight of a local Trinidadian woman being terrorised by young white thugs.
