What is the Hynt scheme?

Hynt is a national access scheme that works with theatres and arts centres in Wales to make sure there is a consistent offer available for visitors with an impairment or specific access requirement, and their Carers or Personal Assistants.

The site will tell you all you need to know about Hynt: who it’s for; what it provides; and how to become a member: www.hynt.co.uk/en

If you need support or assistance to attend a performance, then you may be eligible to join Hynt. Our Box Office team will be happy to assist you with your application, or you can find more information and apply online here.

Accessible Screenings

To find details of our accessible screenings, visit the Cinema page and select your choice of accessible screening using the filters on the left-hand side.

Subtitles / Is-Deitlau

Subtitled screenings

Subtitled screenings are for people with hearing impairments who are hard of hearing.

Subtitled screenings provide a transcription of the audio from a film, displayed at the bottom of the cinema screen.  Along with the dialogue from the film, the subtitles include non-dialogue audio such as "(sighs)" or "(door creaks)".

Relaxed Screening / Dangosiad Hamddenol

Relaxed Screenings

Relaxed screenings are suitable for people with neurodivergence such as autism, learning differences and cognitive disorders, or those who find a more informal setting beneficial.

Relaxed screenings are subtly-adapted screenings that create an environment that is welcoming for people with a range of  neurodivergence such as autism, learning differences and cognitive disorders.

They  Relaxed screenings have sound levels turned down, the lights left on at a low level and there are no trailers at the beginning of the film. Film-goers are free to bring their own food and drinks to the cinema, are able to make noise and to sit where they feel most comfortable. Seats are sold on an unallocated basis for these screenings, and a quiet room is made available adjacent to the auditorium should anyone require to use it.

Audio Described Screening / Dangosiad Sain Disgrifiad

Audio Described Screenings

Audio Described screenings are for people with vision impairments.

They provide a pre-recorded voice commentary that describes features such as action, body language, expressions and movements during the film. The commentary fits within the silent gaps in a film, so it doesn't interfere with the dialogue. It is a separate soundtrack broadcast through wireless headphones which only the wearer can hear. Please speak to our box office should you require a headset (there is no charge for this).

Relaxed Screening / Dangosiadau Sain Atgyfnerthu

Audio Reinforced Screenings

Audio reinforcement is for people with hearing impairments, and is available on all of our cinema screenings and live broadcast events.

Audio reinforcement is a facility that amplifies the cinema screening soundtrack via a headset. This works in place of your hearing aid. Please ask our box office for headphones if you would like to make use of this service (there is no charge for this)
